For real man, you should be punished. My advice? Buy a year of
subscription once you've scrobbled / loved / banned a good amount
of stuff - the experience is SO much better. A year's subscription,
by the way, is $36. :)
Dude- I've already decided that's happening within twelve
minutes. Now that my tablet is running properly with the last.fm
plugin for Canola... rock on. Need to find an s60 and Maemo
scrobbler- suggestions?
@zach- really getting into
my tablet again. Just switched up to the N810 (with a
qwertY this time!)... after a bit of a PITA with
diablo- I'm loving it again BIG TIME. Canola is rocking hard-
especially with the last.fm plugin.
PseudoFinn: I like my tablet too - but - I just can't find any
reason to use it! Same problem I've had since the day I got it. I
like it, every once in a while I pull it out to play with, but
there is never really any reason to. I guess I could carry it
around as a Last.fm radio with Vagalume (or canola now it appears)
but I'd sooner carry one device - my phone - and listen to my
library or internet radio...
It was a WOM trial- I cried when Mr. DHL came to take it away
for the next three days and it took me another month to even look
at the N800 again, let alone pick it up. I think I'm satisfied
enough to wait for a qwerty Nseries at this point... I was REALLY
interested in the E71 until I heard a bit about it- still not sure
it's a device for me. I gotta get my hands on one and have a play.
I'm fiddling with it's little brother of sorts, the E51, right
now... it's getting me to think about the E71 again. Build quality
and materials is really nice- it's sexy, but obviously doesn't
offer an N95 user enough for a switch. E71 comes
close... but then, I've not actually played with
one to be able to qualify that statement. It seems so close and so
far away.
@zach- I'd rather carry
around one device as well- though the N95/N810 combo is so strong I
don't really mind much at all- but... Where's the qwerty Nseries
you were yapping about?? That's what I need to see. :)
thinking data only SIM ... E and N in your pocket - though I've
been very happy the last week with just the E71. I do have a bunch
of other things in my bag of course, but I'm only carrying around 1
phone. I have not used the N810 at all on my commute - that's 2
hours a day of standard usage on the E71 for browsing, chatting,
Jaiku etc.
PseudoFinn: Who the hell knows lol. I know it was real - or at
least two unprovoked (and then a third) completely independent
sources told me about it. I've heard about some pretty crazy new
stuff since then but this time I'm keeping my mouth shut (and yes,
both sources authorized that last post). Oh well - maybe something
sweet will come of android / htc...
Well I think the N810 is going to satisfy me for now until
something qwerty Nseries happens (well, other than the N810... but
is that really Nseries?)... unless I get my hands on an
E71 and it proves to be a worthy purchase.
That's one reason why I'm almost afraid to put my hands on one!
I'd love to know what AT&T is doing with it. Right now- it
doesn't seem worthy enough (for my needs) to drop 450+
on... I could see dropping as much as two bills on it through
AT&T, so long as those wonderful chaps don't gut it. :-\
I find that I use the N810 around the house mostly. Granted, I
spend most of my days in the house, but it's so
much more useful to tote the N810 to the livingroom, bedroom,
patio, etc for Jaiku, music, video, etc, than to unplug my laptop
and tote that thing around.
The N810 was rockin at my 4th of July cookout, just brought it
out to the backyard with us. Personally, I see it more as a
household appliance than a mobility tool.
btw- installed vagalume... Is it just me or does it seem like
the aesthetics of interface mean nothing to anyone but the Canola
crew? Most IT apps just look like a 'proof of concept' sorta thing.
That just me?
@rcadden- very likely.
Let's hope they've found a lesson to learn somewhere in the last
couple of years. Also @rcadden... found Lannen-Jukka on
last.fm. :D
@PseudoFinn -
switching from Winamp to the tablet now.
Re: Vagalume - it works great, but, just like the rest of the
IT, it has trouble deciding whether you're supposed to use your
fingers or the stylus, and that drives me BONKERS. I honestly don't
care which one, but pick one, and stick with it. Currently, you
need the stylus to setup the radio on Vagalume, but can then use
your finger to interact after that. REALLY frustrating.
@atmasphere- makes
sense. Canola is rocking out pretty hard over here. It's a
FANTASTIC app to show off the tablet- no question. What about this
whole scrobbling thing? Is there something that runs in the
background on the tablet and tallies up what tracks I'm listening
through from my own library in Canola? Is that even what scrobbling
is? :P
@PseudoFinn - indeed,
'Scrobbling' is where whatever music player you're using sends a
record of what you've listened to Last.FM, where it's analyzed,
etc.
There is an app to scrobble in the background
through the default music player, maemoscrobbler, I believe, but it
doesn't track other music apps on the Tablet. No clue if Canola
plans to scrobble in the future (or if they already do)
er- sorry, unbranding it will remove all the BS
software and limitations imposed by such branding... unlocking it
just unlocks it from their network so you can use it with another
carrier's SIM
@mobiledan -
locking/unlocking simply controls what SIMs will work in the phone,
nothing more.
branding/unbranding is what I equate to raping/unraping,
respectively. In most cases, indeed you can unbrand to unrape a
device. However, in the instance of the E61/E62, AT&T had Nokia
create the E62 as a lower-end, removed WiFi, and made a few other
hardware changes.
LMAO @mobiledan. :-)
@ricky.... I wonder if the
last.fm plugin on Canola is set up to automatically scrobble tracks
played anywhere in Canola- local library or last.fm
listening...?
@ricky- search for
"karjalainen"- Jukka Karjalainen... and enjoy. You're looking for
the track "Sormus se kulki itteksensä". Have a listen to Nancy ja
Sally as well. :)
@mobiledan- very little
reasoning behind AT&T's thought process as I see it. They've
made some horrible decisions without ever realizing the fault
severally many times. It's not likely that they will ever really
learn- but I keep my hopes up, because there's simply no other high
speed mobile option for me. Tmobile's coverage in Michigan is a
joke as well as the frequency they decided to spend so much money
on- I won't even mention any other providers for a number of
reasons.
wow- I need to figure out the playlists for sure. I keep jumping
back and forth between German industrial, Frank Sinatra, Finnish
hiphop and Charles Aznavour when I play my library... :-\

90% of my tablet usage is media, games, and mauku. I very rarely use the browser, ironically enough.

Yeah- data only SIM... not a bad idea at all. I've been thinking about that- E71 seems very pocketable for and E + N combo.

First thing I'm doing when I get my E71 is finding a theme that rids me of those freakin hideous icons. Then I'll worry about SIMs and the like

perhaps - though vagalume has a much lower system overhead. If you are just doing last.fm I would suggest it over canola.

@ricky or anyone, once a device is 'raped' by the carrier, is unlocking it un raping it?
1 month ago by mobiledan.
There's a plugin for the system ... think it's in extras. You login via the system prefs panel.

If you listen from last.fm scroblling is automatic. If you listen to your local library the plugin updates your account.
